Book Reviews

The February Book Club Selection was “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak. We gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. This book is the story of a young girl who steals her first book at her brother’s graveside. It takes place in Nazi Germany, and we thought it was a great study of relationships, and we learned about this time period from a German family’s point of view. It starts slow, but is well the worth the reading.

Our selection for March was “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. You may have heard about this professor, and his diagnosis of terminal cancer. The book talks about his journey through his diagnosis and treatment, and about some of the life lessons he has learned. We were able to see part of the lecture on line, and after reading his book, are truly inspired. Our group has given this book 5 out of 5 stars, and found him to be a really neat person! We recommend this book to folks of all ages and feel it is a “must read” selection.

Our next book is “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”. Come and join us!
