A Geography of God – Exploring The Christian Journey
By Michael L. Lindvall

The first thing I noticed when I started reading this book is how smoothly it reads.  Lindvall, the author of two other great books, The Good News From North Haven and Leaving North Haven takes his light story telling style of writing and applies it to our journey of discipleship.  This book helped me articulate what I believe and understand why I believe. I have read it twice and keep it on my shelf to refer back to and I know I will read it again.  I really recommend this book for the journey.

Diary of Daily Prayer
By J. Barrie Shepherd

“And the evening and the morning were the first day.”  The King James version of the bible has that beautiful prose that makes some parts of the bible a joy to read.  This is what I like about the writing of J. Barrie Shepherd.  His diary of prayers is first off, in pairs, morning and evening prayers.  So it calls you to prayer every day, morning and evening.  But then you find how timely his thoughts are.  I think a quote on the back of the book from Willian H. Willimon says it all, “Who among us can talk to God with honesty, eloquence, and candor?  For years, J. Barrie Shepherd has helped us.  Barrie finds the right words for prayer and helps us to say that which is difficult – gracefully, faithfully.”  This is a great book to get you started into a habit of daily prayer.
